Kinvara is famous for Dunguaire Castle, an immaculately preserved 16th century medieval fortress overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It is also renowned for its bars and restaurants, which regularly have traditional Irish music and dancing sessions.
There are a host of local festivals held mainly from May to October, including the Cuckoo Fleadh (Traditional Music festival) in May,the world famous Galway Races in July, Cruinniu na mBád (Galway Hooker Traditional boat festival) in August , and the Clarinbridge Oyster Festival in October, which celebrates local seafood.
